Recap of the Sarah Backman Classic

The first ever Sarah Backman Classic is in the books and I’m so happy with how it went!

We got 133 entries which is not bad given East vs West will have a tournament the following week in the same city.

When I got the opportunity to have an armwrestling tournament in my honor I was in awe! Not many people can say they have experienced this 🙂 I understand what a privilege it is and how cool it is, and sponsored by Harley-Davidson Orlando too, and to be able to pay out $3,000 in cash prizes.. That’s huge to me! I’m so grateful for an experience like this. To be able to give my armwrestling friends, new and old, a platform to perform.

THANK YOU Harley-Davidson Orlando for choosing me!

Thank you to the promoters BOOM PRODOCUTIONS and FLO ARM/PROGEAR Armwrestling for believing in me and hosting this tournament for amateurs and pros with me.

Thank you to all our sponsors – who helped making the event a little bit better by their donations, with these contributions we could fly our special guests Gabriela Vasconcelos (x34 World Champion) and her husband Vitor Munoz out from Brazil, have photographers, videographers and pay out cash to the women’s classes (and the women competed for free!)
PROGEAR ARMWRESTLING, BOB BROWN ARMWRESTLING, Paul Italia Productions, The Lucky Ones Podcast and Deb Banaian. I won’t forget it!

Thank you to all friends and supporters who came from near and far. It truly means the world to me! Thank you!

As always after a big event I feel a little empty but it’s helping a lot to have Gabi and Vitor staying with us this week. We are training and enjoying ourselves, and it’s really cool to hang out with your biggest rival. I love to spend time with a woman who is equally as passionate of armwrestling as me. I wonder how many athletes can do this in other sports? 🙂
